The Yarn Tree: A Fiber Arts Studio + Store

On Saturday August 16th, 37 hardy souls turned up in front of Habu for our Textile Tour to the Hamptons. Considering this was the weekend of the Blackout everyone was eager to get out of the city. We boarded a bus chartered from David Thomas Tours, our bus driver James Light was fabulous, he took very good care of us all.

Our first stop was Jack Lenor Larson’s Longhouse Refuge, where Neil took us on a private tour of the house, the gallery and the grounds. There was a lot to see in this very peaceful setting.

We left Longhouse and traveled on to Amagansett to have lunch at The Fish Farm. We sat by the Bay eating our lunch at picnic tables. Many kudos to Maire and her staff. They put on a really wonderful lunch for us all. Everything was homemade, the portions more than generous. People are still talking about the food!!

We then continued on to Sag Harbor and Miss Miyamoto’s Gallery. The group broke in to two, one half walking around the village, the other spending time in the gallery and then changing places. Miss Miyamoto brought out many rare textile pieces from her private colection for us to see!

As the day was coming to a close we had one more stop to make. The Haymarket Farm Stand on the border of Bridgehampton was outr final destination. There we feasted on fresh roasted corn and loaded up on lots of farrm fresh produce!

We will be making this trip again in the Spring when the gardens of Longhouse are in bloom!
